Volunteer Day

In conjunction with DRI2018, the DRI Foundation will give back to Nashville by partnering with local charitable organization(s). Volunteer Day 2018 will take place on Saturday, February 10, with these two exciting volunteer opportunities:

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee (Half Day – Morning)
Volunteers will typically work at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee’s warehouse, completing a variety of essential tasks, most of which involve inspecting, sorting, and packing food for distribution. Volunteers may also pack BackPacks for their BackPack program, packing backpacks to feed hungry children

Operation Stand Down Tennessee (Full Day)
Volunteers will take part in various tasks which may include handiwork, painting, work in the warehouse, distributing hygiene kits to Veterans, and more. The exact job description will be available in the coming months as needs at the facility and weather are forecasted.

DRI Certified Professionals will be awarded 1 CEAP for each hour participated as a DRI Foundation volunteer.

Is there a cost to attend the auction?

Unlike many auctions benefitting charitable organizations, we do not sell tickets to attend; however, if you aren’t fortunate enough to make the winning bid, there are a number of ways you can aid those impacted by disaster. Feel free to make a monetary contribution on site.

What payment methods do you accept at the auction?

Cash, check and credit cards are all accepted at the live event. Receipts will be provided for tax purposes. All donations are tax deductible.

How can my company or I contribute to the Auction?

Two ways. We are accepting in-kind donations of items, gift cards and services to auction off at the event. You may also write a check to the DRI Foundation. For more information, contact Pascale Phelan at pphelan@drii.org.

What are the Silent Auction rules?

  • Visit the items and view their details
  • Place your bid
  • First Name, Last Name and Cell Phone Number are required
  • If you have a concern with listing your name, please see an Auction Specialist for guidance
  • Visit your item of interest frequently
  • Don’t be out-bid on the item you want
  • If you are interested in setting a maximum bid for an item, please see an Auction Specialist and we can act as a silent bidder on your behalf
  • Please settle payment with the Treasurer as the Auction will close at 8:00 p.m.
  • You are legally obligated to pay the bid price if it is deemed final by the Auctioneer
  • We accept payment in the form of cash, checks or credit cards
  • All items must be taken with you unless otherwise indicated
  • You can arrange for shipping directly with FedEx located in the hotel lobby

What are the Live Auction rules?

  • You will receive an auction paddle
  • Each paddle will have a number associated with it and tracked with your name
  • Place your bid
  • Raise your paddle high with the number facing the auctioneer to signify your bid
  • You are legally obligated to pay the bid price if it is deemed final by the Auctioneer
  • Live auction will begin at 7:15 p.m.
  • Winners will be announced by the Auctioneer when the highest bid has been accepted
  • Payment must be settled with the Treasurer before moving to the Gala
  • We accept payment in the form of cash, checks or credit cards
  • All items must be taken with you unless otherwise indicated
  • You can arrange for shipping directly with FedEx located in the hotel lobby
  • All donations are 100% tax deductible

Awards of Excellence

The industry awards presented by DRI International are known as the Awards of Excellence, to recognize the people, teams, and service providers who have achieved a level of excellence in the fields of continuity management, technology recovery (DR), and crisis management, as nominated by the people who know best: their peers. The awards are presented during a gala dinner and ceremony during DRI2018.

Nominations are collected via a secure, online voting system. The blind judging process ensures winner selection remains impartial.

Honor Society

Join us on for the Order of the Sword & Shield National Honor Society (OSSNHS) induction ceremony as part of the DRI2018 Conference.

The OSSNHS motto is “Ex Scientia Pax,” which means “Out of knowledge comes peace.” With an ultimate goal of peace and safety for all, the Society recognizes the commitment and dedication of the individuals in the protective security profession in achieving academic and professional excellence.

The DRI International MBCP Certification Program meets the spirit of true academic excellence, as shared with some of the finest institutions of traditional higher education. The DRI Chapter joins a prestigious list of academic and professional institutions and individuals who have achieved membership in the Society (including Drexel University, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Pennsylvania State University, Texas A&M University, Tulane University, Purdue University, the Department of Homeland Security, and the United States Secret Service).
