Why is DRI having a conference?

For the last 3 years DRI has been running conferences outside the US. These conferences have been extremely well received. In addition, discussions with certified professionals in the US have indicated a need for a conference which is dedicated to the exchange of information by experienced professionals; a conference where breakout sessions will not allow vendors to make sales pitches; a conference where the speakers are all senior members of their respective organization.

This is a conference to emphasize our non-profit status. A conference to raise funds for charities and finally a conference to recognize the best of the best in our industry.

We wanted to give back to our certified professionals. Town Hall’s and Open Houses in 2011 was just a start of our continued commitment to giving back to our community.

Where will the conference be held?

Philadelphia June 4-7 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The Pennsylvania Convention Center is located at 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

June 4-7, 2013 with the 3rd reserved for a charitable building function

Conference sessions, meals, events, volunteer project (based on availability), special events and much more.

Must I be certified?

DRI2013 welcomes certified individuals, regardless of the certifying organization, as well as professional industry leaders.

What is the AoE Charity Awards Gala and Silent Auction?

AoE stands for Awards of Excellence. Our certified attendees will have the opportunity to nominate and vote on the inductees. The awards will be presented during the Gala event.

When is the Charity Awards Gala?

The Gala is on Thursday evening. This event is a Black Tie (dark suits and cocktail dresses are also acceptable)! Must register so we have accurate numbers.

What is the cost to attend the Charity Awards Gala?

The event is included in the cost of the conference. No added entry fees.

What can you tell me about the Silent Auction?

This event will run starting in March (some items will be available on-line for pre-bidding) and will end during the cocktail hour on Tuesday evening. All attendees will have the opportunity to bid for items on display. We will have items such as electronics, health & beauty, automotive. All proceeds of the Silent Auction will go to those charities determined by the Board of the DRI Foundation

How can I or my company contribute to the Silent Auction?

Two ways. We are accepting donations of items to auction off at the event. You may also write a check to the DRI Foundation Receipts will be provided for tax deductions. All donations are tax deductible.

What is the DRI Volunteer Day?

This will take place on the Monday prior to the conference; June 3rd. We will have two events to choose from; a half day and a full day option. Additional information will be sent to those that register to attend Volunteer Day.

ALL are invited to attend this event with the DRI Staff & Volunteers. Transportation to and from the event has been arranged. A boxed lunch, water and t-shirt will be provided. A dinner out that night will also be planned and provided.

**Must register so we have accurate numbers and to save your spot.

Conference Attire?

Business casual with the exception of the Charity Awards Gala, which is black tie (dark suits and cocktail dresses are also acceptable).

Anyone wanting to rent a tux should go to their local Men’s Wearhouse store sooner rather than later.  Ordering two weeks prior to the event or less will incur an additional rush fee. When renting - be sure to tell the local store that you want to pick up the tux at the Downtown Philadelphia store #5206 & give them the DRI group number 4498565.

 Trying on & Picking up the Tux in Philadelphia:

The tux will be available 2 days prior for fitting so we recommend you go to the store on Tuesday 6/4 or Wednesday 6/5 to have the tux fitted in case any changes need to be made. Rentals will need to be picked up at the downtown Philadelphia store #5206 - they will not be delivered to the hotel or convention center.

Returning the Tux:

On Friday, June 7th, individuals who have rented tuxedos will need to return them to the store.

Cleaning/Pressing:

The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown offers laundry services to have dresses or other clothing pressed. Turn in garments to be cleaned/pressed by 8am daily (no service on Sunday), and items will be back to your room between 6 and6:30pm that same day. Pricing varies depending on the garment and services.

A block of rooms have been reserved at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown at a group rate of $229.

Member in Good-Standing?

If you are a DRI certified member, you must hold a certification in Good-standing with DRI to attend. In Good-standing refers to someone that is current on dues and CEAP requirements. Professional Industry Leaders are also invited to join us at DRI2013.
